NOTE: It’s kind of hard to imagine blues luminaries the likes of Etta James and John Lee Hooker playing this Telegraph college crowd haunt. But that’s the history of Blake’s on Telegraph, which, in order to stay relevant (ie. profitable) gave itself a face-and-brand-lift in 1993. The result: a large space, good affordable food and alternative and hip-hop bands for the early-20’s set. As your humble EBI host (ie. hermit), I can attest to Blake’s serving me a tasty turkey burger, well-smothered garlic fries and a decent cup of coffee. But for the live music, I defer to the more sociable below.
